Since the worldwide phenomenon known as Minecraft was released, there have been countlessattempts to cash in on the addictive mechanics of resource gathering and base building. “No! nonononononono! S**T NOOOOOOO!” This made up the majority of my playtime with Outlast on the PS4, a survival horror game so creepy that I struggled to press forward even with the lights on. Scaredy-cats beware, this is one spooky ride.

The Lego Movie Game Review

Lego movie

Words by Milo Fisher

After the recent release of the fantastic Lego Movie, expectations for the movie based tie-in game were high. So far all Lego games had been tied to another franchise, so having the game be set in a world that was made to already be Lego was a scary thought. Would the game be able to deliver the same amount of entertainment and comedy as the film while also providing hours of addictive gameplay? Well…

Words by Milo Fisher

These recent years it seems video games are getting too serious. There became so many colourless shooters and Minecraft clones that I wondered if there was any hope in finding some originality in the world. Enter Jazzpunk, the self aware spy comedy adventure that makes me happy to be a gamer.

I got the chance to visit Namco Bandai recently to get our hands on Dark Souls II. And after playing the first three hours, I can safely say that it’s just as punishing and rewarding as it’s predecessor, and I rather loved it.

Point-and-click games were massive in the past, with such classics as Monkey Island and Grim Fandango being highlights to the genre (for me anyway). Sadly the genre has seemed to have died out in recent years in favor of more action packed titles. Fear not, for now things have changed! Tim Shaffer, the head of Double Fine studios and one of the minds behind both Monkey Island and Grim Fandango, has finally released the Kickstarter funded Point-and-click beauty that is Broken Age.

Rouge-likes are all the rage these days, with more and more being released every week it’s becoming harder to find the ones that do something different and take risks. Enter Dungeon of the Endless, an up and coming randomly generated dungeon crawler that makes opening every door a battle of life and death, and it’s rather cracking.

Here’s Something Awesome: The Banner Saga

The-Banner-Saga-08

Gamers love to imagine what would happen if multiple games were combined together, to picture a game that takes all the best elements of games they love and mix them to create something incredible. Sadly, most gamers are left to dream for a game that captures what features they desire, but not for me, as The Banner Saga manages to capture everything I love in a masterfully crafted adventure.

Steamworld Dig Review

steam-world-dig-010

Way back in the day, there was an Xbox 360 indie title called Miner Dig Deep, it was a nice relaxing game all about sitting back and working away at a mine. Steamworld Dig is just like Miner Dig Deep, except it has robots, monsters, puzzles, and rocket punches. Oh yes, it has sweet, sweet rocket punches.

Adventure Time. Cartoon Network’s hit show about a boy and his dog. With a series with such a well crafted world and many memorable characters, it seems that a game set in the world would be fantastic. Sadly, Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon because I DON’T KNOW isn’t the game fans have been waiting for.
