The Legend of Korra: The Video Game Review

The-Legend-of-Korra-post-3_zpsea4250de

The animated Avatar franchise has had a bad history with video game adaptations. Past games that focused on the series have all been shallow beat-‘em ups with little enjoyment other than fan service. The Legend of Korra hopes to right the wrongs of past games in the franchise by being an action packed 3D brawler that can appeal to anyone. more

Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed Review

ATuau

Written by Milo Fisher

Akiba’s Trip is one of the few whacky Japanese games that ten years ago we would of assumed would never make it across seas. But thanks to the team at NIS, the game has been lovingly localized for European audiences. The downside to bringing these strange Japanese RPGs is that they aren’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea, and Akiba’s Trip may be the hardest game to sell to a mass market. Akiba’s Trip is a free roam RPG that involves running around Japan attacking and stripping vampires.  Yep, it’s one of those games. Read more

One Piece Unlimited World Red Review

Written by Milo Fisher

One Piece has been going for over 15 years now, and yet has never managed to find a video game genre that fit it. The series would often borrow from other franchises for its video game adaptations (see One Piece Pirate Warriors 2) but would never dare to be original. One Piece Unlimited World Red takes a bold step for the franchise by being the first original title to grace a home system, and it does so wonderfully. Read more

jojos-bizarre-adventure-all-star-battle-cover

Trying to talk to people in the west about JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is like talking to a brick wall, it’s practically unknown. Meanwhile in Japan, it’s a highly popular manga and anime series that’s been going strong for more than 20 years, seeing multiple video game and movie adaptations. For this review, I’m going to assume that you’ve never heard of the franchise before in your life, and try to explain why this game, along with the series, is worth your time. Read more

Tales of Symphonia HD Review

I’ve always held the “Tales of” series close to my heart. From the cheesy writing, to the simplistic yet addictive combat, I love it all. And while I was never fortunate enough to experience the Symphonia games when they were originally released, the glorious teams at Namco Bandi and tri-Crescendo have come together to re-release the two role playing epics in wondrous HD. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of my favourite anime out there. It has whacky characters, bombastic battles, manly posing, and a whole lot of people shouting “JOJO!” and “DIO!” at the top of their lungs. It’s bizarre, and it’s wonderful. So when word came about that the fighting game was coming to the west, I was overjoyed with the thought that more people would experience the sheer joy from the game that I felt watching the anime. After playing a good few hours of the new demo that was just released, all I can say is that I want this game more than ever.

The Lego Movie Game Review

Lego movie

Words by Milo Fisher

After the recent release of the fantastic Lego Movie, expectations for the movie based tie-in game were high. So far all Lego games had been tied to another franchise, so having the game be set in a world that was made to already be Lego was a scary thought. Would the game be able to deliver the same amount of entertainment and comedy as the film while also providing hours of addictive gameplay? Well… Read more
