Destiny Review

Words by Milo Fisher

Destiny is a universe jam packed full of adventure. Unfortunately, most of those adventures end up being repetitive and unimaginative.

One Piece Unlimited World Red Review

Written by Milo Fisher

One Piece has been going for over 15 years now, and yet has never managed to find a video game genre that fit it. The series would often borrow from other franchises for its video game adaptations (see One Piece Pirate Warriors 2) but would never dare to be original. One Piece Unlimited World Red takes a bold step for the franchise by being the first original title to grace a home system, and it does so wonderfully.

Grid Autosport Preview

Words by Milo Fisher

After the release of the incredibly average street racer Grid 2 last year, Codemasters have been very hush hush with their projects. Now they emerge a year later with Grid Autosport, a racing game that aims to fix all the issues found in the other Grid games while adding even more things to rev your engines at.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle Review

jojos-bizarre-adventure-all-star-battle-cover

Trying to talk to people in the west about JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is like talking to a brick wall, it’s practically unknown. Meanwhile in Japan, it’s a highly popular manga and anime series that’s been going strong for more than 20 years, seeing multiple video game and movie adaptations. For this review, I’m going to assume that you’ve never heard of the franchise before in your life, and try to explain why this game, along with the series, is worth your time.

Tales of Symphonia HD Review

Words by Milo Fisher

I’ve always held the “Tales of” series close to my heart. From the cheesy writing, to the simplistic yet addictive combat, I love it all. And while I was never fortunate enough to experience the Symphonia games when they were originally released, the glorious teams at Namco Bandi and tri-Crescendo have come together to re-release the two role playing epics in wondrous HD.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle Demo Impressions

Words by Milo Fisher

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of my favourite anime out there. It has whacky characters, bombastic battles, manly posing, and a whole lot of people shouting “JOJO!” and “DIO!” at the top of their lungs. It’s bizarre, and it’s wonderful. So when word came about that the fighting game was coming to the west, I was overjoyed with the thought that more people would experience the sheer joy from the game that I felt watching the anime. After playing a good few hours of the new demo that was just released, all I can say is that I want this game more than ever.

Dark Souls II Preview

Words by Milo Fisher

I got the chance to visit Namco Bandai recently to get our hands on Dark Souls II. And after playing the first three hours, I can safely say that it’s just as punishing and rewarding as it’s predecessor, and I rather loved it.

Words By Milo Fisher

Dragon Ball Z is one of the most beloved anime franchises in the western world. The expansive amount of content in the universe just begs to be turned into a video game. Battle of Z is the latest Dragon Ball game to grace our eyes, but is it worth charging you Ki for? Or should you teleport away?

Get your pickaxe, Minecraft tunnels its way to PS3

minecraft

Minecraft is just about on every device so it’s strange to have taken this long to finally get its ass on PS3. The pixelated mine-fest shot to massive success since it first released on PC in 2009 and now PS3 owners can play it from the comfort of their Dualshock.

Deadly Premonition: Directors Cut Impressions

deadly_premonition__directors_cut_wallpaper_by_christian2506-d5vj88t

Deadly Premonition is the twin peaks of gaming. It’s a B-movie for gamers. It’s a fantastically strange adventure that people are going to either love to bits, or hate with a burning passion.

Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers Review

bmUploads_2013-07-03_3656_Saint-Seiya-Brave-Soldiers-EMEA-Logo1

When a new fighting game is made by Capcom, people lose their minds. But when a new fighting game is made by Dimps, no one seems to notice. It’s a shame, as Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers is an incredibly enjoyable and well made anime fighting game that should be played by all anime fans alike.

Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon because I DON’T KNOW! Review

adventure-time-dungeon

Adventure Time. Cartoon Network’s hit show about a boy and his dog. With a series with such a well crafted world and many memorable characters, it seems that a game set in the world would be fantastic. Sadly, Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon because I DON’T KNOW isn’t the game fans have been waiting for.

Stick it to the Man review

stickittotheman

Stick it to the man is a hilarious, whacky, and enjoyable experience that harkens back to point and click games of old, but with less puzzles and more platforming. With its crazy cast of characters and interesting story, Stick it to the man is good fun.

Contrast review

Contrast-Package-Art

Contrast is an incredibly creative game with so much potential. But a lack of focus and constant amount of bugs keep this game from being something truly magical.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 review

one-piece-pirate-warriors-2-characters-646x325

Luffy and his rag tag band of Straw Hat pirates are back once again with their second PS3 outing. And while this is a Dynasty Warriors spin off through and through, anyone who loves One Piece will be very happy with this game.

Dragons Crown Review

image003

Dragons Crown is the latest magical adventure from Vanillaware. And while the game looks pretty, the lackluster gameplay and overall lack of interesting things to do in the game makes Dragons Crown feel like a low budget beat ‘em up.

The Guided Fate Paradox Review

TGFP-West-Fall

Nippon Ichi are back! The team that brought you the beloved Disgaea series have returned once again to fill that dungeon crawling need with their new game The Guided Fate Paradox. While the game has a slow start, it stands as an addictive adventure that’s hard to put down.

Payday 2 Review

payday2_2

Payday 2 is the newest game from Overkill studios. It’s a fast paced, action packed co op heist game, and one of the best co op adventures we’ve played in ages.

Saints Row IV review – Hail to the Chief

Saints-Row-iv

Trying to describe Saints Row 4 is like trying to describe insanity itself, because for all intents and purposes, that’s what it is. Imagine a world where anything you want to do is possible, and anything you don’t want to do is also possible. Now take that world, toss it in a blender, add some bananas (K?), a few slices of chaos, and a dash of nud-oops, all of the nudity-, sit back and hit frappé. Once this glorious concoction of gleeful violence, murder, and mayhem settles, toss in some elements of The Matrix, any superhero comic/movie, Crackdown, and Prototype, and you’ve got yourself the newest Saints Row game.

It was announced today that Junpei Iori and Yukari Takeba from persona 3 will be added to the rest of the fighters in Persona 4 Arena via a new system update.

Well, in Japanese arcade machines at least.

Dynasty Warriors 8 review

dw8logo

The history of ancient China is filled with legends, mythology, and war. Sometimes the people even led normal lives. Dynasty Warriors attempted to use some of these aspects of the ancient world to make an enjoyable experience on your home console. Unfortunately, the key word was “attempted.” Dynasty Warriors 8 plays out as a rather boring experience with a tepid plot, lack of character development, and underwhelmingly simple combat system.

Are you ready for some football? NCAA Football ’14 review

NCAA featured image

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y, NIGHT! “Welcome back sports fan. We’ve got an exciting matchup here for you today. Two long-time rivals going head-to-head to prove who the greatest college team on the gridiron really is.” Hearing announcements like this always puts a little spring in my step during the college football season. Nothing beats grabbing a few slices of pizza, cracking open a coke, and sitting down for a couple hours of my favorite team kicking the crap out of the other guy. Surprisingly, NCAA Football ’14 recreates that feeling pretty damn well.
